"National Epilepsy Week: Spreading
Awareness, Dispelling Myths, Supporting Lives"
Published by LifeOnPlus | 3rd Week of May | National Epilepsy Week 2025
Epilepsy is more than seizures.
It’s a neurological condition that affects over 10 million people in India—and millions more who support, care for, or don’t know how to help them. This National Epilepsy Week, LifeOnPlus is committed to raising awareness, breaking stigma, and building inclusive healthcare access for people living with epilepsy.
What is Epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a chronic brain disorder that causes recurrent seizures—sudden, uncontrolled electrical disturbances. It can affect anyone, at any age.
But with timely diagnosis and treatment, 70% of epilepsy cases can be effectively managed.
The Problem: Stigma & Silence
In many parts of India, epilepsy remains misunderstood. Myths, discrimination, and limited access to neurologists or diagnostic tools lead to delayed care and social isolation. That must change.
How LifeOnPlus is Making a Difference:
1. Access to neurologists through teleconsultations and local clinics.
2. Discounted EEG, CT, and MRI scans with the LifeOnPlus Smart Health Card.
3. Emergency response training for caregivers and schools.
4. Educational content to bust myths and share facts in regional languages.
5. AI-powered reminders to help patients manage medications and symptoms.
Know the Signs of a Seizure:
Sudden confusion or unresponsiveness
Jerking movements (especially of arms and legs)
Loss of awareness or staring spells
Strange sensations, smells, or emotional changes
What to Do During a Seizure:
Stay calm and time the seizure.
Keep the person safe by removing nearby objects.
Do NOT put anything in their mouth.
After the seizure, help them rest and recover.
Seek medical help if the seizure lasts over 5 minutes or repeats.
Together, We Can Make Epilepsy Visible and Treatable
At LifeOnPlus, we believe every person with epilepsy deserves access, understanding, and support.
This week, let’s wear purple. Let’s talk about epilepsy. Let’s stand with every fighter, caregiver, and loved one.
Because awareness is the first step toward action.
